2023 ADA Pedestrian Improvements Project

Due to the ongoing winter storm, City facilities, including City Hall and all Parks, Recreation and Culture facilities, will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 18. This is due to the forecasted winter storm resulting in dangerous travel conditions.

Background

The City of Lawrence is a place where all may feel welcome and at home. To support that vision, the City of Lawrence is beginning work on the 2023 ADA Pedestrian Improvements project, seeking to create equitable travel across the City.

The 2023 ADA Pedestrian Improvements project will reconstruct or infill gaps in sidewalk in the following areas: 

  • Sidewalk Reconstruction – W 9th Street from Madeline Lane to Murrow Court 
  • Sidewalk Gap – Wisconsin Street from 4th Street to 5th Street 
  • Sidewalk Reconstruction – Arkansas Street from 7th Street to 8th Street 
  • Sidewalk Reconstruction – E 10th Street from Rhode Island Street to Connecticut Street 
  • Sidewalk Reconstruction – 11th Street from Tennessee Street to Kentucky Street 
  • Sidewalk Reconstruction – 12th Street from Tennessee Street to Kentucky Street 
  • Sidewalk Reconstruction – E 19th Street from New Hampshire Street to Rhode Island Street 
  • Sidewalk Gap – Harper Street from E 25th Terrace to E 23rd Street

Construction and Project Schedule

Construction for this project is scheduled to begin in Late-August 2024 and conclude in November 2024. Â
