RE:	Sports Pavilion Lawrence – Final Payment

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department recommends Commission approval on the final payment of $50,000 to Gene Fritzel Construction for the Sports Pavilion Lawrence Project.

Background

In September of 2014, the City of Lawrence took possession of the Sports Pavilion Lawrence facility from our contractor Gene Fritzel Construction. Since that time the City has retained $50,000 to assure all items on the construction punch list were completed. The attached letter from our architect team recommends payment of the final retainer to close-out the project, as all punch items on the list have been successfully completed.  

The entire building will remain under warranty until September 1, 2015. To date, the contractor has been very responsive in making repairs or replacements on building related items identified by staff.  

Action Requested

Authorize staff to pay the final retainer of $50,000 to Gene Fritzel Construction on the Sport Pavilion Lawrence Project.
