RE:

Traffic Safety Commission, No Parking, 4 Westwood Road

Background

At the April 6, 2015 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request to establish NO PARKING in front of 4 Westwood Road. Westwood Road is classified as a “local” street in a residential area and is generally paved approximately 15 feet wide; however, one portion is approximately 30 feet wide. Parking is currently prohibited along both sides of Westwood Road from Engel Road, west approximately 580 feet (see map and meeting materials).

Traffic Safety Commission Action

At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, one (1) members of the public addressed the Commission in support of the request, the resident of 4 Westwood Road, indicating that there have been instances when large vehicles, such as trash trucks, could not get through the area. In addition, the residents of 5, 6, 7, and 8 Westwood Road had been contacted and there were no objections. The Commission, on a unanimous vote of 6-0, recommended establishing NO PARKING in front of 4 Westwood Road.

Action Request

It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission and establish no parking in front of 4 Westwood Road and adopt on first reading, Ordinance No. 9116, establishing no parking in front of 4 Westwood Road.
