Lawrence recycles 22.7 tons of electronic equipment at fall event

On Saturday, November 8, 2014, the City’s Solid Waste Division hosted an Electronic Recycling Event. The event was held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the KU Park & Ride east parking lot.  A total of five hundred and seventy three (573) participants dropped off 45,377 pounds (22.7 tons) of electronic equipment, which included computers, televisions, video and audio equipment, small appliances, cell phones and other hand held devices. Electronic recycling at this event was provided by Midwest Recycling Center (MRC). See the attached event report and participant survey results for more details.

Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Public Tours

The Lawrence Utilities Department makes water and wastewater plant tours available to the public. To date in 2014, Utilities staff conducted wastewater treatment plant tours for 386 people.  See the attached report for more information.
