Agenda Item – Award bid for Bid Number B1404 for Utilities Department Pump and Motor Rehab Program

Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the April 8, 2014 meeting:

Award bid for pumps and motors rehab program for the Utilities Department to Douglas Pump for $26,900.00.00, JCI for $50,181.00.00, and Letts Van Kirk for $38,842.82.00. Total for all pumps and motors is $115,923.82.

Project Details

The Utilities Department received approval to bid 12 pumps and motors for rebuild or replacement with the bid opening on April 1, 2014. These pumps and motors transport water and wastewater at the treatment plants and throughout the city. In an effort to make the process more efficient for city personnel and vendors, the 12 pumps and motors were bid at once instead of individually. A pre-bid meeting was held to review the specifications and expectations with potential bidders.

Not all vendors bid on all of the pumps and motors. In some cases, it was more advantageous to replace the pump. Therefore, based on the bids received and the choice to replace instead of repair as outlined in the attached bid sheet, the following vendors were low bid for rehabilitation or purchase of the specified pumps:

JCI - $50,181

Letts, Van Kirk - $38,842.82

Douglass Pump - $26,900

Total - $115,923.82

Project Funding

This purchase was planned in the 2014 Utilities Operations and Maintenance Budget.
