RE:

Dedication of Right-of-Way

Due to the construction of the South Lawrence Trafficway, several utilities are being relocated.   Louisiana Street, south of 31st Street, will be moved west approximately one half  mile.

Westar will need to rebuild a large transmission main which will need to be along Louisiana Street at Broken Arrow Park.  The southern half of the park is owned by Douglas County.  The City requested Douglas County to dedicate the area needed by Westar to the City as right-of-way.  The County Commission approved the dedication of right-of-way to the City on Wednesday, February 26, 2014.  The City will also dedicate the City owned area as right-of-way (see attached map).

Westar can use the City right-of-way under its franchise agreement.  If the City needed to use this area, Westar would have to relocate at its cost.

Action Requested:

·         Approve dedication of right-of-way.

·         Accept dedication of right-of way from Douglas County

Respectfully Submitted,

Charles F. Soules, P.E.
