Update on 12th and Haskell Recycling Center (added 05/14/12)

The attorney representing the owner of the 12th and Haskell Recycling Center has provided the attached letter concerning the owner’s plans to relocate the business to a new location.  City staff is working with the owner on necessary land use reviews for the new facility.  Staff is also reviewing how this information impacts City code enforcement on the current location.  

 

Parks and Recreation administrative offices relocated to South Park

The Parks and Recreation Administrative Offices have relocated to South Park from the 947 New Hampshire Street location. The Cemeteries Office was also relocated to the South Park location. Facility rentals may be made at any department facility; however the Administrative Office will be the primary location for facility rentals. Please see the attached report for photos of the refinished offices and more information regarding staff located at the facility.

 

Fire Medical Department 2011 Annual Report

The Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Department has produced the attached 2011 Annual Report. The report highlights a number of notable activities and numbers regarding the department’s operations last year.

 

Update on status of Peak Oil Task Force recommendations

When recommendations of the Peak Oil Task force were presented last December, the City Commission directed that periodic reports on the status of those recommended items be provided.  A report outlining progress in a number of areas has been provided.  A more exhaustive report is planned and will be provided later this year.

 

April building permits report

The Building Safety Division issued 236 building permits in April, with total construction for the month valued at $19,790,910. Staff issued 31 permits for new residential construction in April, including 9 single-family dwellings and 22 multi-family dwellings.  This compares to 14 permits issued for new residential construction in April last year, all for single-family dwellings.
