RE: |
ABB Variable Frequency Drive (3) for Utilities Treatment Plants; UT1512 |
Background
Pump and blower functionality is critical, particularly during high flow events at City water and wastewater treatment plants. Each pump and blower has its own variable frequency drive (VFD) for variable speed control to help reduce operating costs.
Project Description
Staff has determined replacement of three aging VFDs is needed for continued blower and pump reliability. One VFD replacement is for a Kaw River Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) blower; one is for a WWTP raw sewage pump; and one is for a Kaw River Water Treatment Plant low service pump. Staff has negotiated sole source quotes (including startup services, and five-year warranty) from Logic, Inc. for a combined total purchase price of $109,020.20. Logic is the local supplier for the Department’s specified standard VFDs from manufacturer ABB.
