Agenda Items 11/17/2015: Traffic Safety Commission, Stop signs on the 23rdt Street Frontage Road at the access point west of O’Connell Road |
Background
At the October 5, 2015 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request to establish STOP signs on the 23rd Street Frontage Road at the access point west of O’Connell Road. When VenturePark opened, it included a connection to the 23rd Street Frontage Road via Venture Park Way, where little, if any, traffic existed before. With the increase in traffic on the Frontage Road, it is necessary to provide traffic control at the intersection since it is very difficult for westbound traffic on the Frontage Road to see westbound traffic on 23rd Street that is turning onto the Frontage Road.
Traffic Safety Commission Action
At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, no one addressed the Commission, either in support of, or in opposition to, the request. The Commission, on a unanimous vote of 8-0, recommended establishing STOP signs on the 23rd Street Frontage Road at the access point west of O’Connell Road.
Action Request
It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission to establish STOP signs on the 23rd Street Frontage Road at the access point west of O’Connell Road.
