According to the EPA, the amount of waste generated by each person living in the USA has almost doubled from 2.7 to 4.4 pounds per day during the past 35 years. Source reduction, including reuse, can help reduce waste disposal and handling costs. Source reduction also conserves resources and reduces pollution. Items can be reused by repairing them, donating them to charity and community groups, or selling them.
