Unused pharmaceuticals are a common sight in medicine cabinets. These drugs create potential for abuse and may cause environmental and health concerns when disposed of improperly. Studies have shown that pharmaceuticals are present in our nation's waterbodies. Further research suggests that certain drugs may cause ecological harm. • City of Lawrence/Douglas County Household Hazardous Waste Facility
  Accepts uncontrolled pharmaceuticals from Douglas County residents on an appointment only basis. Call 832-3030 for an appointment.
• DEA Drug Take-back Program
  Accepts all pharmaceuticals and illicit drugs during scheduled take-back day events.
• Kansas Department of Health and Environment Medication Disposal Program
