Monthly Progress Report 09-12-06

Completed Tasks through September 1, 2006

  • Continued Public Involvement Program. 

  • Held Public Meeting No. 4 to announce selection of a site for the new Wakarusa WRF. Received comments from public.
  • Submitted draft Siting Study to Kansas Department Health and Environment.
  • Finalized draft Siting Study in anticipation of making site recommendation.
  • Received City Commission approval to proceed with land purchase.
  • Reviewed Southeast and Northwest Master Plan updates. Access impacts to 2003 Master Plan. Continue to develop anticipated current and future flows to the WRF.
  • Reviewed population projections for west of K-10 and western Lawrence sanitary sewer basins historically growth patterns provide by the City.
  • Met with Public Works and Storm Water Engineer to discuss future storm water regulations that will affect the WRF.
  • Began development of regulatory strategy for the Kansas WWTP and the Wakarusa WRF.
  • Began developing possible piping corridors to the WRF. Corridors will be evaluated utilizing piping corridor data book provide by the City/Keller & Associates.

Tasks for September 2006

  • Finalize Siting Study based on Comments received from City Commission, City Staff, and KDHE. Re-Submit Siting Study to Owner as required.
  • Present Siting Study Report to Haskell Indian Nation University.
  • Receive final Geotechnical Report.
  • Provide assistance for application and supporting information for submittal to City/County Planning Commission for zoning of selected site.
  • Finalize loads and flows and submit to City in technical memorandum. Meet with City and finalize memorandum.
  • Meet with City Staff to discuss regulatory strategy for the KDHE Surface Quality Reduction Plan. Meet with KDHE to discuss strategy for Lawrence.
  • Begin anti-degradation work for Wakarusa River.
  • Continue working with acquisition team to develop piping corridors and pumping station locations. Make site visit with City/Site acquisition team.
  • Develop utilities corridors to WRF based on discussion with local utilities.
