Completed Tasks through June 30, 2007
- Continued dialog with Kansas Department Health and Environment (KDHE) regarding review of the Siting Study.
- Draft NPDES Permit Public Notice Period ended June 16. City received draft permit from KDHE.
- Continued to support City in annexation, zoning, and platting of Wakarusa WRF site.
- Completed remaining on-site corridor investigations (geotechnical and utility locates).
- Provided City with draft corridor on-site investigation reports including: cultural and historic evaluation, wetlands delineation and threatened endangered species investigation, Phase 1 Environmental assessment, geotechnical borings, and assessment of existing road conditions.
- Held workshop with City to discuss operating strategies of biological nutrient removal process.
- Presented preliminary treatment layouts for Design Memorandum.
Anticipated Tasks for July 2007
- Finalize Siting Study based on comments received from City Commission, City Staff, and KDHE. Re-submit final Siting Study.
- Continue to support City in annexation, zoning, and platting of Wakarusa WRF site.
- Submit Corridor Study which will include alignments considered and results of on-site investigations.
- Present preliminary solids layouts for Design Memorandum to City for comments.
- Submit draft Design Memorandum to the City for comments.
- Initiate geotechnical borings for detailed design on the Wakarusa WRF site.
- Update Basis of Design Report as comments are received from City and KDHE.
Actions/Issues
- Important to maintain project timeline.
- Work with County to define truck route.
- Design/build team selected for West Influent Pumping Station should provide further definition of station location.
- Communicate conveyance corridor route selection information to property acquisition team and design/build team.
Decisions Needed
- Continue to evaluate project acceleration plan.
- Response from KDHE on review of Siting Study.
