Completed Tasks through July 24, 2007

  • Continued dialog with Kansas Department Health and Environment (KDHE) regarding review of the Siting Study. 
  • Met with City and County to discuss Wakarusa WRF access roads.
  • Continued to support City in annexation, zoning, and platting of Wakarusa WRF site.
  • Presented solids treatment layouts for Design Memorandum to the City on July 13.
  • Submitted Draft Administration Building layout to the City.
  • Submitted Draft Corridor Study to the City for comments on July 24.  The study documents alignments considered and results of on-site investigations.
  • Provided Draft Executive Summary to the City for comments on July 24.  The summary covers the Basis of Design and Corridor Reports.
  • Completed survey of Wakarusa River crossings for Corridor Study.  Crossings could not be surveyed previously due to unsafe conditions related to high water levels.
  • Provided City with preliminary survey information including aerial mapping.

Anticipated Tasks for August 2007

  • Finalize Siting Study based on comments received from City Commission, City Staff, and KDHE.  Re-submit final Siting Study.
  • Address conditions of approval comments and resubmit preliminary plat.
  • Continue to support City in annexation, zoning, and platting of Wakarusa WRF site as necessary.
  • Submit Draft Design Memorandum to the City for comments by the end of July.
  • Initiate geotechnical borings for detailed design on the Wakarusa WRF site.
  • City to negotiate contracts for project continuance with selected design/build teams.
  • Provide City with final aerial mapping and survey information.
  • Update Corridor Study Report and Basis of Design Report as comments are received.

Actions/Issues

  • Important to maintain project timeline.
  • Design/build team selected for West Influent Pumping Station should provide further definition of station location as well as finalize corridor alignment east of Haskell Avenue into the Wakarusa WRF.

Decisions Needed

  • Response from KDHE on review of Siting Study.
