Monthly Progress Report 08-08-06

Completed Tasks through August 4, 2006

  • Continued Public Involvement Program. 

  • Property acquisition team completed land appraisal of two sites. 
  • Finalized draft Siting Study in anticipation of making site recommendation.
  • Met with staff and City Commission in Executive Session to recommend selection of one site.
  • Began Basis of Design Report for Wakarusa WRF. Began developing flows and loads for new Wakarusa WRF. Began initial development of regulatory strategy to meet Kansas Surface Water Nutrient Reduction Plan.

Anticipated Tasks for August 2006

  • Continue Public Involvement program.
  • Submit draft Siting Study to Kansas Department Health and Environment for review.
  • Hold Public Meeting No. 4 to announce recommendation of a site for the new Wakarusa WRF. Comments received from public meeting will be received and submitted to City Commission for recommendation to purchase site.
  • Finalize loads and flows and submit to City in technical memorandum. Hold workshop with the City to discuss regulatory strategy for the KDHE Surface Quality Reduction Plan. Began anti-degradation work for Wakarusa River.
  • Work with acquisition team to develop piping corridors and pumping station locations.

Actions/Issues

  • Important to maintain project timeline.
  • City has approved amendment to began development of Basis of Design Report and Corridor study.

  • Continue to evaluate project acceleration plan.
