Monthly Progress Report 04-24-07


Completed Tasks through April 24, 2007

  • Continued dialog with Kansas Department Health and Environment regarding review of the Siting Study. 
  • Provided KDHE with updated Wakarusa River modeling report.  Public notice for NPDES permit expected in late April.
  • Submitted zoning, annexation, and preliminary plat information.  Topic scheduled for May Planning Commission agenda.
  • Held meeting to update Public Advisory Subcommittee Representatives on project status on April 11, 2007.
  • Held Public Meeting No. 5 on April 23, 2007 to present proposed corridor alignment to the public.
  • Design flows and solids handling memorandums reviewed with staff.
  • Initiated on-site investigations of proposed piping corridor. Continued coordination and access discussions with property owners along proposed corridor route and pumping station locations.
  • Continued progress on preliminary hydraulic profile and mass balance for the Wakarusa WRF.

Anticipated Tasks for May 2007

  • Finalize Siting Study based on Comments received from City Commission, City Staff, and KDHE.  Re-submit final Siting Study.
  • Support City in annexation, zoning, and platting of Wakarusa WRF site for May Planning Commission Meeting.
  • Submit Draft Basis of Design Report to staff for review.
  • Begin development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams as well as the Design Memorandum.
Complete fieldwork for on-site investigations along pipeline corridor and pumping station locations.

  • Important to maintain project timeline.
  • Monitor public comments on draft NPDES permit.

  • Continue to evaluate project acceleration plan.
  • Response from KDHE on review of Siting Study.
