Projection of
Ambulance Revenue Increase |
Taking into account the maximum payments of Medicare and Medicaid, we are projecting to earn an additional $281,065 annually as a result of the ambulance fee increase based on the 2007 calls and mileage (see chart). Using an average of $23,422 per month, additional revenues as a result of the fee increase for July through December are estimated at $140,532. As noted in my April 9, 2008 memo regarding ambulance rates and stand-by fees, it is important to remember that the rates charged may be different from the rates allowable by insurance companies. In some circumstances, providers agree to waive the portion of the fees not covered or outside of the allowable charges, and as a result, the amount collected may differ from the amount projected. Furthermore, the projections were based off actual 2007 calls and mileage, which will differ slightly from those that, will occur in 2008.
