| An evaluation of the department's protective clothing utilizing manufacturer's inspection guidelines has raised various levels of safety concerns. The average life-span of this protective clothing is 3 to 5 years. A five year replacement program will allow each member to receive new protective clothing according to its useful life-span. In order to accomplish this, we will need to replace 25 sets of protective clothing per year. We have budgeted for a 5-year replacement program and these additional funds are needed to initiate the program. | ||||
| BENEFITS OF FUNDING PROGRAM | ||||
| Personal Protective Clothing is mandated by NFPA and Federal guidelines for the personal protection of the firefighter while conducting hazardous missions of the department. Proper fitting and good overall condition will reduce the likelihood of injury or death. | ||||
