2. Airport Manager's Report
Chuck updated the Board on the utility extension project. Three firms are being interviewed on April 28. He is also preparing a memo to the city commission to select a consultant for the Airport Master Plan.
3. FBO Report
Lloyd Hetrick had no report other than to mention that an aircraft recently departed from Lawrence with a destination in Bermuda.
4. Leadership Lawrence Annual Flights, April 16 8 a.m.
The 8th annual flights for the graduating Leadership Lawrence class will be April 16. Gary secured four volunteer pilots and aircraft for this important event. Good work Gary!
5. Advisory Board terms expiring May 31: Fish, Sneegas, Gordzica, Newton & Bryant
Each Board member who is interested in serving another term should send a letter to Bobbie J. Walthall
6. 80th Anniversary Event Planning
Maria Preston-Cargill updated the Board on the media schedule that the World Company is providing. They are also sponsoring two events for which the Board is very grateful.
Mr. McCawley and Mr. Hallock updated the Board on the status of the skydiving demonstration at the event. The KSU skydive club was interested in participating but preferred that the parachutists land at the airport rather than at a remote location. There was considerable discussion about the parameters (times, locations) under which the request could be accommodated. There is considerable concern about safety for parachutists and aircraft since there will be an unusual amount of activity in the airspace that day.
Various logistical details were discussed. Rick Bryant reviewed the schedule and assignment list.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:55 p.m.
Next Meeting time is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in the Richardson Memorial Pilots' Lounge at the Lawrence Municipal Airport Terminal Building.
