Listen, recognize the “sounds of spring” with program

Prairie Park Nature Center is holding a program to recognize the sound of spring.

Sounds of Spring: The Call of Frogs and Toads is being held 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St. The program is open to those 10 years-old and older, however those under 15 years-old must be registered with an adult.

The program will include a hike with Keith Coleman, author of Calls of Kansas Frogs and Toads. Coleman will help participants listen to the sounds of spring amphibians and distinguish the difference between frogs and toads.  Participants will also learn to identify the calls of toads, tree frogs, leopard frogs and others. Cost of the program is $5 per person.
