Rental Registration
The City adopted the International Property Maintenance Code January 1, 2008.
- Exterior and Interior inspection once every 3 years to ensure property complies with the 2006 International Property Maintenance Code and the adopted Environmental Code.
- The Code Enforcement Division will notify property owner or agent of date and time of inspection.
- If property owner or agent is unable to meet inspector for the scheduled date of inspection, he or she should notify inspection staff at (785)832-3107 to re-schedule inspection.
- Inspector will provide copy of inspection report at the time of inspection. Repairs/corrections are expected to be made within 30 days. Inspector has discretion to shorten or lengthen re-inspection date depending on the nature of violation. Factors to consider are life safety issues and scope of work required.
- It is the responsibility of property owner or agent to contact inspector to schedule the re-inspection if the re-inspection date was not set at the time of initial inspection.
- Failure to make repairs to become code compliant can result in complaint being filed in Municipal Court.
