The Lawrence City Commission adopted the Downtown Area Design Guidelines in February 2009. This revised set of design guidelines includes guidelines for sidewalk dining and hospitality areas in Downtown Lawrence.
8th & Penn Neighborhood Redevelopment Zone Design Guidelines (PDF, 5.5 MG)
The Lawrence City Commission adopted the 8th & Penn Design Guidelines on December 19, 2006. The Guidelines were revised on October 4, 2011. The guidelines provide direction to property owners and developers to ensure that changes to properties – rehabilitation, renovation, demolition, and new construction—enhance and complement the unique character of the 8th & Penn area of East Lawrence.
