1988 was the year we first started doing business in Lawrence. We purchased the McDonald’s restaurants on 23rd Street and 6th Street on Jan. 1, 1988. Three months later, the Kansas Jayhawks won the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship.
We moved to Lawrence four years later in 1992, so our boys could go high school here. All three boys graduated from Lawrence High School.
