Burroughs Creek Trail & Linear Park Development

Lawrence Parks and Recreation is working with several neighborhood associations, including: East Lawrence Neighborhood Association, the Brook Creek Neighborhood Association, the Woods on 19th Homeowners Association and the Barker Neighborhood Association on the development of a new trail/linear park in East Lawrence.

The trail and linear park will be developed on existing City property and the abandoned rail corridor. The Lawrence City Commission approved the first phase of development for 2007.

The initial public meeting was held in April 2007 to gather input from the public regarding the park and its features.

Additional meetings have been held since to further develop the trail/park master plan.

Bartlett & West Engineering, Lawrence, assisted in the beginning stage of the plan, while City staff has been responsible for the public discussion and final development plans created for the trail and park the initial meeting.

This map shows the area being considered for development.
