(Lawrence, Ks) – In addition to one more open house scheduled this week, the community now has an opportunity to weigh in on the planning of a coordinated transit system by filling out surveys online.

The same surveys were distributed at yesterday’s open house and will be at Thursday’s open house can be completed by visiting www.getonthebuslawrence.org. Public input will be gathered on issues ranging from route planning and scheduling to vehicle options and strengths and weaknesses of current transit systems.

Questions include:
  • What should be the top three priorities of a public transit system?
  • How important is vehicle fuel type? Many options are available, such as gasoline, diesel, bio-diesel, compressed natural gas, and electric hybrid.
  • Please rank the twenty locations that are most important to be served by transit in Lawrence.
The deadline for completing the surveys will be January 9, 2009.

For those interested in attending the remaining open house, the meeting time and location is:
  • 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11 at Douglas County Senior Services, 745 Vermont.
The meet is an open house format. Participants are invited to come and go anytime during the meeting. Attendees will be asked to complete worksheets to provide input and be able to talk with team members about the issues.
