Citizen input needed for Iowa Street reconstruction project

(Lawrence, Ks.) – The City of Lawrence is exploring various long-term solutions to improve the pavement condition on Iowa Street from Yale Road to Irving Hill Road Overpass. As part of this process, the city will conduct a public meeting to discuss possible long term improvements, including adding a center turn lane on Iowa Street. A public meeting will be held on Monday, March 29 from 6-7 p.m. at Fire Station No. 5, 1911 Stewart Ave., to present possible options.

“Public comment on the proposed project is vital at this point in the discussion,” said Shoeb Uddin, city engineer.

If interested individuals are unable to attend the meeting, comments are welcome via email to suddin@ci.lawrence.ks.us or by calling (785) 832-3123.

The city is currently undertaking a major repair and patching project on Iowa Street to resolve immediate maintenance needs.
