City crews prepping for snow overnight, tomorrow
(Lawrence, Ks.) - At midnight tonight, City of Lawrence street maintenance crews will begin working in 24-hour, round-the-clock operations in preparation for predicted snowfall. Snow is forecasted to begin falling overnight and continue throughout the day on Friday. Accumulations between one-to-four inches are possible.
Crews will first begin treating roadways with a mixture of sand and salt. The city’s snow operations guide and a map of priority treatment routes are available online at http://www.lawrenceks.org/public_works/snow_ice.
Despite sand and salt treatments, the roadways can still be very slick. You should exercise extreme caution when driving in the snow and slow down.
As always, the city appreciates your patience and cooperation during snow operations. We will make every effort to keep road clear and treated throughout snow events.
