1) Indoor aquatic center to host Kid’s Night Out
(Lawrence, Ks.) – Attention kids! Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is offering an opportunity to skip the normal mushy Valentine’s Day parties and come to the Indoor Aquatic Center for an evening with friends. Have a night away from your parents and attend Kid’s Night Out: I Luv 2 Swim from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 19 at the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.
The program includes swimming, water games, crafts and pizza. Let Mom and Dad have their own romantic evening while you have the real fun.
The deadline to register for Kid’s Night Out: I Luv 2 Swim is Wednesday, February 17. A $15 fee must be paid at the time of registration. All activities and refreshments are included in the fee.
Registration for the class can be done online at www.lprd.org or by visiting any Parks and Recreation facility including: the Indoor Aquatic Center; the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr.; Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center; Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.; the Administrative Offices, 947 New Hampshire St. or South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Massachusetts St.

2) Spend days off school with parks and recreation
(Lawrence, Ks.) – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is holding two camps for kids during their days off of school Feb. 25 and 26.
Prairie Park Nature Center is hosting Wild Things Camp for kids six to 10 years old. Participants will get wild with animals, go on hikes, play games and do crafts. Children will need to wear clothes and shoes suitable for outdoor activities. The camp is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $45. For more information, contact Marty Birrell, nature interpretive supervisor, at 785-832-7980.
Kids ages five to 12 years old can enroll in Kids’ Day Off, held by the Special Events Division. Participants will go swimming at the Indoor Aquatic Center, play games and do arts and crafts. The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $40. For more information, call Duane Peterson, special events supervisor, at 785-832-7949.
Kids enrolling in both camps will need to bring a sack lunch each day.
