City offices to close on Jan. 18 for Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday
(Lawrence, Ks.) – City offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 18 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Residential solid waste collection will not be affected by the holiday closure. Commercial solid waste collection routes for Monday will be collected on schedule.
Parking meters in downtown Lawrence will be free on Monday, Jan. 18.
To report a waterline break on a holiday or weekend, call (785) 843-2685.
The Lawrence Transit System T and T Lift buses will operate regular schedules on Monday, Jan. 18.
Parks and recreation announces the following hours of operation for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday:
Recreation facilities hours for Monday, Jan. 18:
Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 W. 27th St. – 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Community Building, 115 W. 11th St. – 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th St. – 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Massachusetts St. – Offices closed but the facility will be open for regularly scheduled classes.
Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St., will be closed, as it is its normal shut down day.
The Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr., will maintain regular hours for lap swimming, which are 5:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Warm Water Workout will be held from 12-1 p.m. in the leisure pool. The Zero Depth and Children’s Area will be open 1 to 7:45 p.m. Diving Boards and Water Slide areas will be open from 1 to 7:30 p.m. All aquatic classes will be held as scheduled. Carl Knox Natatorium, 1901 Louisiana St., will also be open from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. for lap swimming. However, the Aquatic Division offices will be closed for the day, but all classes will be held as scheduled.
Eagle Bend Golf Course and Learning Center, 1250 E. 902 Road, will be in operation weather permitting.
All recreational classes will be held as scheduled. Youth Sports Hoopsters league will not hold practices at school facilities, but games scheduled for the evening at East Lawrence Recreation Center will be held as scheduled. Adult Sports leagues and special population classes will be held as scheduled at the various recreation centers.
