Mike Amyx is a lifelong resident of Lawrence, KS. At 59 years old, he and wife Marilyn have one son, Chris.
Commissioner Amyx is owner of Amyx Barber Shop, Inc., a family owned and operated business since 1942.
Mike has served as Mayor four times. He is a former member of the Kansas Board of Barbering and is also the former Chair of this organization.
His previous experience includes terms as Lawrence City Commissioner (1983-1988) and (2005-present), Lawrence Mayor 1985-86, 1987-88, 2006-2007 and 2010-2011, Douglas County Commissioner 1988-1993, Chairman, Douglas County Commission, 1989-90.
