Climate Protection Task Force
Next meeting is June 24, 2008, at 4:00 in the City Commission Room.
The Mayor’s Task Force on Climate Protection was appointed in February, 2008, to create a Climate Protection Plan, as part of the US Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement. The Climate Protection Plan will:
- report greenhouse gas emissions baseline data for city operations and the community;
- recommend greenhouse gas emission reduction goals and target timeframes; and
- recommend strategies to meet the goals while preserving economic development, transportation options, and the ability of responsible producers of energy to provide stable and cost effective energy supply.
The task force will be chaired by Michael Dever, Mayor.
There will be up to 12 additional appointees, balanced among stake holder interests in the community.
The task force will provide a final report to the City Commission not later than 12 months after the initial meeting. If the final report is not completed, a progress report will be presented.
