August 2015 Monthly Financial Report

The Finance Department has completed its review of the August 2015 balances and results of operations.  The attached report is a review and discussion of major revenues, expenditures, and balances of the City.  This is a new monthly report that the Finance Department will be creating to report financial status to the City Commission and the public.  Comments on the report are welcome.

September 2015 Sales Tax Report

The City received its September sales and use tax, along with its share of County sales and use tax distribution this week. Total received was $2,982,281.71. Of this amount, $2,955,151 was from sales and use taxes city-wide. The remaining $26,980.98 was from sales within the City’s three Transportation Development Districts.  See attached report for more details.

New Rental Licensing Map

The Planning and Development Services Department has published a Residential Rental License Interactive Map for citizens, prospective renters and landlords to access.  The map can found at:  http://www.lawrenceks.org/pds/rental-licensing/map.  The map identifies all rental dwelling units that are licensed and in good standing with the rental licensing and inspection program requirements.  The map is intended to provide consumers information about units that comply with the city’s rental program as well as help landlords market their code-compliant properties.  The map is linked to the department’s home page.  Citizens will be able to click on the blue map dot of a rental property and view the landlord name, zoning district, the number of units licensed and the apartment complex name if applicable.  Staff believes the map will be a valuable resource for tenants, landlords and the general public as the program continues to license properties through 2015 and beyond.
