RE: |
Project PW1507 – 6th & Champion RFQ/RFP |
Project Description
The intersection of 6th & Champion Lane in northwest Lawrence has been identified for signal improvements prior to an increase in development in the area (see attached map). Under existing conditions a traffic signal is already warranted at this location. The commercial area on the south side of the intersection is already developed. The north side of the intersection is currently partially undeveloped. Sprouts Grocery store is located on the northwest corner of the intersection and more development will occur on the north side of 6th Street further increasing the need for a traffic signal at the 6th & Champion Lane intersection.
The scope of the project is for signal improvements at the intersection and sidewalk design including pavement marking to accommodate pedestrians crossing 6th Street.
Project Funding
Estimated total cost of this project is $400,000 funded from an existing benefit district. KDOT will reimburse $250,000 for construction costs. Construction plans will be reviewed and approved by both city and KDOT. This will be a city-let project.
