RE:	Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade

The City has historically provided funding support for the Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade, held in December each year.  Last year, the City provided $8000 toward the event and $6,000 was provided in 2013, and $5,000 annually 2010-2012.

This year, event organizers are requesting $8000 in transient guest tax funds toward support for the event, which will be held on December 5, 2015. 

City staff recommends approval of this request and would recommend that this request be considered with other guest tax related funding requests once the grant program for such purpose is formally established.  Parade organizers will be informed of this new process related to the 2016 event.

Requested Action:

Authorize $8000 in funds from the Guest Tax Fund to support the 2015 Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade.
