RE:	Event Permit – Fire Medical Department Open House : Saturday, September 12, 2015

The City of Lawrence, Fire Medical Department has requested a street event permit to close the 200 block of west 8^th Street (see attached map) on Saturday, September 12, 2015, for the 2015 Fire Medical Department open house.

The Street closure will be 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

It should also be noted that there is a request to close various other streets in the downtown area on this same day for the KU Band Day event. I have discussed this event’s closures with Chief Mark Bradford and he will have the Fire Medical Department staff a response unit in north Lawrence for the duration of both this event and the KU Band Day event.

Coordination with both event applicants has been completed and neither event will create an impact for the other.

Vermont St.	South of 6^th St.	North of 8^th St.
Kentucky St.	South of 6^th St.	North of 8^th St.
7^th St.	East of Tennessee St.	West of Massachusetts St.

In addition; Planning, Police, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Fire / Medical, Lawrence Transit, Downtown Lawrence, Inc., and the Chamber all have reviewed this permit with no issues.

ACTION

Approve a street event permit for the Fire Medical Department event to close the 200 block of west 8^th Street on Saturday, September 12, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
