RE:

Proposed ‘no build’ easement for the transfer of 1.38 acres of Clinton Park property to USD 497

Background

On June 2, 2015, the City Commission authorized staff to draft the necessary legal documents for the transfer of approximately 1.38 acres of Clinton Park to USD No. 497 in order to accommodate playground and parking improvements at Pinckney Elementary School.

The City Commission authorized staff to draft the necessary legal documents for a ‘no build’ easement that limits future improvements on the park property to only a fire access lane from Alabama Street with limited parking improvements. These improvements are shown on the District preliminary site plan, which was approved by the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission on December 18, 2014. The ‘no build’ easement will maintain the majority of the historic park property as greenspace for play areas and gardens. The ‘no build’ easement will be included on the Minor Subdivision (MS-15-00123) which accommodates the land transfer.

Action

Approve the ‘no build’ easement, if appropriate.
