10th Street and New York Street 24” Watermain Relocation – UT1428 – Department of Utilities, general contractor Schuetz Const., and engineering design firm Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) have completed relocation of the watermain at the intersection of 10th Street and New York Street, as shown on the attached map. The project included the relocation of approximately 100 lineal feet of 24” ductile iron water transmission main in order to make room for a new sanitary sewer that is to be installed by USD 497.
 
Schuetz Const. was given notice to proceed on May 12, 2015 with a total of 90 calendar days allotted to attain final completion. The relocated watermain is in service and the project was completed within the contractual timeframe. 
 
The project was awarded to Schuetz Const. in the amount of $138,915.00, a change order, to accommodate the additional work necessary to successfully complete the project, is anticipated in the amount of approximately $15,000.00 for a total construction cost of approximately $154,000.00. The change orders represented approximately 10.8% of the original bid project cost.  Design and construction phase engineering services were contracted with PEC as part of the ongoing Watermain Rehabilitation and Replacement Program in the amount of $35,394.00 for a total project completion cost of approximately $189,300.00.
 
8th Street Waterline Replacement, Indiana Street to Kentucky Street – UT1419 Department of Utilities, general contractor Banks Construction, and engineering design firm Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) have completed replacement of the watermain on 8th Street from Indiana Street to Kentucky Street as shown on the attached map. The project included the replacement of approximately 1,300 lineal feet of 14” cast iron waterline originally installed in 1886 with 12” PVC pipe. Attached is a photo of the pipe interior showing the buildup of corrosion. The waterline was installed utilizing horizontal directional drilling in order to minimize the impact of construction activities on affected residents and property owners.
 
Banks Construction was given notice to proceed on April 6, 2015 with a total of 180 calendar days allotted to attain final completion. Banks Construction completed all work within the contractual timeframe and the project met all requirements for final completion as of July 22, 2015.
 
The project was awarded to Banks Construction in the amount of $406,850.00 and change orders, to accommodate the additional work necessary to successfully complete the project, were executed in the amount of $31,250.00 for a total construction cost of $438,100.00. The change orders represented 7.7% of the original bid project cost. Design and construction phase services were contracted with PEC as part of the ongoing Watermain Rehabilitation and Replacement Program in the amount of $56,351.00 for a total project cost of $494,451.00.
 

Eagle Scout Project

Daniel Murry’s Eagle Scout project was to re-establish the South Park Monarch Butterfly Way Station. Daniel and members of his scout troop, Troop 55, cleaned up the area, putting in weed paper to prevent weeds from growing, and developed a new sign showing the Monarch’s life cycle.  See attached pictures.
