RE:	Shotgun start at Lawrence Police Foundation Golf Tournament

The Department has received a request from the Lawrence Police Foundation to fire a blank from a shotgun for a “shotgun” start at its annual golf tournament set for Monday, August 31, 2015 at 1630 at The Orchards by Cobblestone, LLC Golf Course, 3000 Bob Billings Parkway.  If the Commission wishes to authorize this, staff recommends suspending enforcement of City Code Section 14-407, which prohibits the discharge of firearms within the City, for this event.

Action

Approve the suspension of enforcement of City Code Section 14-407 (prohibiting the discharge of firearms within the City) to allow for a “shotgun” start at the Lawrence Police Foundation golf tournament on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 1630 at The Orchards by Cobblestone, LLC Golf Course, 3000 Bob Billings Parkway.
