RE:

Annual software maintenance for Logic, Inc. SCADA Software

Background

The City of Lawrence uses Logic, Inc.’s Wonderware Software to operate the Utilities SCADA Systems.  The term “SCADA” is an industry term that is short for “Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition.”  SCADA systems are centralized systems which monitor and control entire sites, controlling most actions by automatically performing processes by Remote Terminal Units or by programmable logic controllers, commonly referred to as “PLCs".   The SCADA systems process and log operations at intervals that aren’t practical by staff personnel.  The annual maintenance fee of $31,581.00 includes technical support, software version upgrades, updates and patches.  This is a sole source purchase.

Action

Information Technology is recommending that the City of Lawrence approve a purchase order in the amount of $31,581.00 to Logic, Inc. to continue the use of the SCADA Wonderware software for the period from September 30, 2015 to September 30, 2016.
