RE:

Authorize purchase of two (2) Hach 5500sc Ammonia Monochloramine Analyzers

Background

Utilities Department originally purchased two (2) Hach APA 6000 Ammonia Monochloramine Analyzers, one for the Clinton Reservoir Water Treatment Plant in 2007 and one for the Kaw River Water Treatment Plant in 2008. Those units have been in continuous use since that time giving the plant operators valuable data to keep the water quality within optimal parameters. The analyzers are nearing the end of their service life and have begun to require increased amounts of maintenance due to equipment failure and parameter accuracy.

Project Description

Staff plans to update the current Hach APA 6000 Ammonia Monochloramine Analyzers with Hach 5500sc Ammonia Monochloramine Analyzers. This is in an effort to update the analyzers before the end of their service life, and to keep up with newer, faster more accurate data for process decisions.

Staff Recommendation

Utilities Department recommends the purchase of the two (2) 5500sc Ammonia Monochloramine Analyzers from Hach Company.

Funding

Funding for this purchase is from the 2015 O&M Budget.

Action

Authorize staff to purchase two (2) 5500sc Ammonia Monochloramine Analyzers for the total amount of $45,144.74 from Hach Company, on a sole source bid that includes a five percent (5%) discount on all equipment.
