RE:

Traffic Safety Commission, No Parking on Timberedge Road, north of Lakeview Road

Background

At the July 6, 2015 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request to establish NO PARKING along Timberedge Road, north of Lakeview Road (see attached map). Timberedge Road is classified as a “local” street in an industrial area, paved approximately 26 feet wide and a speed limit of 30mph. Parking is currently permitted along both sides of Timberedge Road.

Traffic Safety Commission Action

At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, three (3) members of the public addressed the Commission, all in support of the request. It was noted that there have been occasions when large vehicles have parked along both sides of Timberedge Road which prevented City and KU buses to exit their maintenance facility and get to Lakeview Road. In addition, discussions with the business the large vehicles were associated with, indicated that the business has no control over the vehicles since they are not owned or operated by the business. No one spoke in opposition to the request. The Commission, on a unanimous vote of 8-0, recommended establishing NO PARKING along both sides of Timberedge Road, from Lakeview Road to a point west of the west access point to the City/KU bus maintenance facility.

Action Request

It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission to establish NO PARKING along both sides of Timberedge Road, from Lakeview Road, north 1235 feet.
