RE:

Traffic Safety Commission, No Parking on Stratford Road, west of Crestline Drive

Background

At the July 6, 2015 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request to establish NO PARKING along Stratford Road, west of Crestline Drive (see attached map). Stratford Road is classified as a “local” street in a residential area, paved approximately 26 feet wide and a speed limit of 30mph. Parking is currently permitted along both sides of Stratford Road.

Traffic Safety Commission Action

At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, one (1) member of the public addressed the Commission in opposition to a restriction on both sides of the street; but, indicated support for a restriction on one side. It was noted that a restriction on both sides would not leave any parking for a family gathering, a party or a meeting. In addition, correspondence was received from two property owners in opposition to the request. The Commission, on a unanimous vote of 8-0, recommended denying the request to establish NO PARKING on Stratford Road, west of Crestline Drive.

Action Request

It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission to deny the request to establish NO PARKING on Stratford Road, west of Crestline Drive.
