RE:

Crestline Drive, No Parking

Background

At the June 1, 2015 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request to establish NO PARKING along both sides of Crestline Drive from 9th Street to Bob Billings Parkway (see attached map). Crestline Drive is classified as a “collector” street, paved approximately 26 feet wide and a posted speed limit of 30mph. Parking is currently permitted only along the east side of the street between Harvard Road & Yale Road; and, along the west side of the street from a point 115 feet south of 9th Street to Yale Road.

Traffic Safety Commission Action

At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, two (2) members of the public addressed the Commission in support of the request; it was indicated that the parking causes a serious congestion issue, particularly when school is letting-out. No one addressed the Commission in opposition to the request. Members of the Commission weren’t sure that the restriction would prevent vehicles from standing in the area, but, it might discourage the practice. The Commission, on a unanimous vote of 7-0, recommended establishing NO PARKING along both sides of  Crestline Drive from 9th Street to Bob Billings Parkway.

Action Request

It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission and establish NO PARKING along both sides of Crestline Drive from 9th Street to Bob Billings Parkway.
