RE:

Common Ground License Renewal and Name Change

Background

The Lawrence Fruit Tree Project is a Common Ground program participant, and leases City owned property at 830 Garfield adjacent to the Burroughs Creek linear park for their Lawrence Community Orchard Project.  Previously, they had signed their agreement under an individual’s name – Skylar Adamson – as they were not yet a nonprofit organization.

This past spring, the Lawrence Fruit Tree Project incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization under the name “Lawrence Community Food Alliance, Inc.”  They requested that they re-sign their license for the Common Ground program with this new name.

All terms stay the same except for the term of the lease which has been extended to December 31, 2017.  All that changed is the name of the signatory.

Action

Authorize the Interim City Manager to execute a license for the use of city property for agricultural use in the Common Ground Program for:  The Lawrence Community Food Alliance, Inc. at 830 Garfield.
