RE:	Agenda Items 6/23/2015: Traffic Safety Commission, Marked Crosswalks at the intersection of 27^th Street & Lawrence Avenue

Background

At the May 4, 2015 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request for MARKED CROSSWALKS at the intersection of 27^th Street & Lawrence Avenue. A crosswalk can be marked across the north and east legs of the intersection; however, sidewalk ramps would have to be constructed in order to mark a crosswalk across the south leg (see map of area and meeting materials).

Traffic Safety Commission Action

At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, one (1) member of the public addressed the Commission in support of the request; no one spoke in opposition. The Commission, on a unanimous vote of 8-0, recommended MARKED CROSSWALKS across the north and east legs of the intersection of 27^th Street & Lawrence Avenue.

Funding

The cost to mark these crosswalks can be accommodated within the Traffic Engineering budget.

Action Request

It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission for MARKED CROSSWALKS across the north and east legs of the intersection of 27^th Street & Lawrence Avenue.
