19th Street Reconstruction Project

An open house will be held on June 24, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th Street, to discuss the 19th Street reconstruction project from Harper Street to O’Connell Drive.  The attached postcard was mailed to area residents. 

 

Planning & Development Services Certifications

Planning and Development Services is pleased to report several new certifications for key staff positions.  Timberly Krutz, Administrative Assistant in Development Services, passed her International Code Council (ICC) Permit Technician Certification Exam, which helps her deliver enhanced customer service to those applying for building permits.  Lee Queen, Building Inspector, gained his Residential Building Inspector certification, which reflects a deeper knowledge of inspecting residential building components.  Jerrad Lewis and Dan Devin, Inspectors with the Rental Licensing and Inspection program, obtained their ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certifications, thus demonstrating code proficiency in regards to light, ventilation, heating, sanitation, protection from the elements, life safety, safety from fire and other hazards and for safe and sanitary maintenance of  existing residential and nonresidential structures within our community.    This knowledge is used daily in their duties of inspecting residential rental dwellings units that are regulated by the City’s Rental Inspection Ordinance and responding to tenant complaint inspections of such dwelling units.  The ICC is recognized as a foundation that is dedicated to developing model codes and standards used in the design, build and compliance process to construct safe, sustainable, affordable, and resilient structures by providing minimum safeguards for people at home, school and in the work place.

 

Black Hills Withdraws Demolition Permit Application:

 

Black Hills has withdrawn its application for a demolition permit for the Quonset hut located at 8th and Pennsylvania in order to explore alternative solutions.  The item will not be on the agenda in July as a result of this action.
