RE:	Award Bid for Project PW1521, Lighting for 31st and O'Connell Intersection

Background

The intersection of 31st and O'Connell has been constructed as part of the South Lawrence Trafficway.  Lighting for this intersection was not included in the original plans.

Project Description

This project consists of installing street lighting to the roundabout at the intersection of 31st Street and O'Connell Road.  Four black decorative street light poles with LED fixtures will be placed in the island inside of the roundabout.

Project Funding

This project will be funded with bonds issued for the construction of 31st Street, Resolution Number 7047.  Staff has evaluated the bid proposals to check for accuracy, completeness and other applicable criteria. As shown in the summary table, the bid proposal from J. Warren Co., Inc. offers the lowest and best total bid price for this project.  Staff recommends awarding the bid to J. Warren Co., Inc.

Project Schedule

This project is scheduled to be completed in the summer and Fall of 2015.

Action Request

Award City Bid No. B1530, Lighting for 31st and O'Connell Intersection, to J. Warren Co., Inc. in the amount of $53,000 provided the contractor can meet the terms established in the contract documents.
