RE:

Vacation of Right-of-Way, 424, 428, and 432 Louisiana Street, Mark & Sheila Stogsdill

Background

On June 2, 2015 the City Commission will hold a public hearing to consider the vacation of a right-of-way; described as:

The east 10.00 feet of Louisiana Street right-of-way adjacent to Lots 34, 36, and 38 on Louisiana Street in the Original Townsite, and that part of the vacated alley between said Lot 34 and Reserve No. 2 in West Lawrence all in the City of Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas (Known as 424, 428, and 432 Louisiana Street).

Louisiana Street is a local street that was originally platted with 80 feet of right-of-way.  The owners Mark & Sheila Stogsdill, proposes the vacation of unneeded right-of-way will provide flexibility with front setback for proposed residence.  The vacation will also permit placement of the garage farther from the alley providing more visibility along the alley and more on-site parking.

All utilities, as well as property owners within 200 feet, were notified.  No objections were received

Action Request

Hold public hearing and pending discussion, approve order of vacation for a portion of the right-of way at 424, 428, and 432 Louisiana Street, as requested by property owners Mark & Sheila Stogsdill.
