RE:

Proposal for Ad-Hoc Working Group On Issue Of Community Needs For Police Facilities

As I have mentioned during our recent discussions, I would like for us to discuss a proposal to establish an ad-hoc working group on the issue of community need for police facilities.

I believe that the work of this ad-hoc group could be valuable to the City Commission in reviewing the proposed police facility in the capital improvement program and its funding and make recommendations to the City Commission on these items.

In our earlier discussions, I have heard concerns about the length of time needed for the group to complete its work and report for the City Commission.  I have proposed a report be delivered in mid-November.

I have proposed a seven (7) member group.  The following is a list of the types of individuals I would propose be considered for such a task force: John Bullock, Reggie Robinson, Chuck Epp, Paul Carttar, David Johnson, and Sandy Praeger.  Additionally, it would be appropriate for representatives from the groups that have been working on advocacy for a police facility to be represented as well.

I look forward to visiting with you all further about this at our meeting on Tuesday.
