Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

 

 

WHEREAS:       Public works infrastructure, facilities and services through the Street, Engineering, Facilities, Transportation Operations, Solid Waste, and Fleet Divisions, are of vital importance to the health, safety, and well being of the people of Lawrence, Kansas; and

 

WHEREAS:       Such facilities and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, engineers and administrators representing local government. These individuals are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the transportation, storm sewer, and refuse disposal systems, fleet, public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential to serve our citizens; and

 

WHEREAS:       It is in the public interest for citizens and civic leaders to gain knowledge of the public works needs and programs of their community; and

 

WHEREAS:       Each year, National Public Works Week recognizes the contributions of public works professionals and increases awareness and understanding of the importance of public infrastructure.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Lawrence, Kansas, does hereby proclaim May 17 - 23, 2015, to be

 

“PUBLIC WORKS WEEK”
